A Message to Evil Doers

Preachers of the Gospel have good news for sinners, who are granted the grace of God, to believe the message. Not all have faith (2 Thess 3:2), however, and the reason is that unbelievers do not belong to Christ (Jn 10:26; 1 Cor 3:23) because they are not of God (Jn 8:47).

The unbeliever does not hear the voice of Christ, in the preaching event. This is why he does not heed the Lord’s call, for all men everywhere to repent (Acts 17:30). The unbeliever is deaf to the Word of God (Rom 10:17).

There is nothing deficient in God’s Word. It is God’s will, revealed, and it accomplishes what God intends it to do. It never returns to Him void (Is 55:11). For instance, if God sends His Word of life, to the chief of sinners, even the chief of sinners will indeed repent of his sins (Acts 9; 1 Tim 1:15).

The Word of God endures, forever, even as heaven and earth passes away (Mt 24:35; 1 Pet 1:25). The Word of truth bears witness of God’s coming judgment by fire (2 Pet 3:10–12). Therefore, guilty sinners must take note. There is no escaping the offended God of Creation and of Law. His judgment against humanity is just. It comes without partiality (Jas 3:17).

Why do evil doers persist? Why will they not listen to reason? Instead, they think evil thoughts. They speak evil words. They do evil deeds. The Bible teaches us that God made the wicked for the day of evil (Prv 16:4). They were even appointed to stumble over Christ Jesus, the choice and living stone (1 Pet 2:8). He is King of kings and Lord of lords (1 Tim 6:15), but evil doers say, “We will not have this man to reign over us (Lk 19:14).”

The Bible asks you, “Who will deliver you from the wrath to come (Mt 3:7; Lk 3:7)?” God’s hatred of sinners (Ps 5:5; 7:11; 11:5) is manifested by His actions (Rom 1:18). There is no one good, who does right (Rom 3:10–12); therefore, God is the just Judge of the whole earth (Gen 18:25; Jn 5:30). He does right when He judges evil doers.

Who can stand in the judgment of Almighty God…and live? Evil doer…consider what God did to His only begotten Son, who was without sin (2 Cor 5:21; Heb 4:15). He poured His wrath upon the sinless Lamb of God (Jn 1:29), having imputed the sins of His people from the whole world (Gal 1:4; Heb 1:3). Jesus Christ is their propitiation (Rom 3:25; Heb 2:17; 1 Jn 2:2; 4:10), which means He suffered the just wrath of God, in their place and on their behalf, when He died on the cross for them (1 Pet 2:24).

Evil doer…who is your propitiation, to shelter you from the terror of God’s wrath, today and forever? Who is your redeemer to reconcile you to God? Your biggest problem is that you have been deceived into thinking you are a good person, who does good works. You think you are right with God, but you are unaware that the god you are right with is the devil, the god of this world (2 Cor 4:4).

As a child of the devil (Jn 8:44; 1 Jn 3:10), you walk in darkness because your deeds are evil (Jn 3:19). Are you not aware that you are already condemned (Jn 3:18)? Of course, you are not aware. The reason is that your father has blinded you from seeing the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ (2 Cor 4:4).

The proof of your being deceived is that you are unmoved by the warning of your doom. The solution to your plight of sin is Christ crucified, but that is foolishness to you (1 Cor 1:18; 2:2). You do not realize that the Bible is the Gospel of salvation, so you never read it.

Evil doer…your disdain for Jesus Christ is God’s very judgment against you! In His mercy, God opens the ears of the deaf, so why can’t you hear His voice? In His mercy, God opens the eyes of the blind, so why are you unable to see? In His mercy, God makes the lame to walk, so why do you stumble over Jesus Christ?

Evil doer…God has not shown you mercy. He has not been gracious to you. His love is not directed to you, for if it had been, you would love Jesus Christ (1 Jn 4:19). As it is, you have no love for God in your heart (Jn 5:42). Does this trouble you in the least? Not at all.

Evil doer…your thoughts, words, and actions — every one of them — is before the Lord. Your wickedness has been accruing since conception. He has seen it all from you. Your debt of sin will take an eternity for you to pay off. What currency do you have to pay with here? What means do you have to pay with, in the fiery hell of eternal punishment? Will those who give hearty approval to your rebellion against God help you in the day of trouble?

Your death, evil doer, is appointed by God, as is your judgment (Heb 9:27). You mock and scoff at the only Savior of sinners (Ps 2; Acts 4:12). You are in large company. The multitudes are with you. The world loves its own, and you are of this world (Jn 8:23).

I must move on to warn others with this message. So I will close my address to you, with this final admonition: You are without God, without excuse, and without hope in the world (Eph 2:12). You do not have the life of God in you (Rom 8:9), and although I write to you every day, in all probability, you are not even reading this article.

If by grace, I have written to you, my dear reader, and you recognize this message is about you, then acknowledge the sovereign God of heaven, who compelled you to read this and who convicts you of sin. There is only one thing to do in response. Repent of your sins and believe in Him, Jesus Christ, whom God has sent (Jn 6:29; Acts 16:31). He alone does save (Titus 3:5). You should know that, and you would, if you were not an unrepentant evil doer.
