A Word to the World

The unbeliever scoffs, “Where is the promise of His coming (2 Pet 3:4)?” Ok, have you not heard? Is it not written? You mock Christ, the King of glory while your world remains in shambles. Can the Venezuelan Socialist prove his case for the superiority of his system? Can the Cuban? Can you justify your unbelief?

My unbelieving friend, look at the transformation of your Christian friend or family member. Christ has come, just as He said! He has sent His Spirit to circumcise the heart (Dt 30:6; Rom 2:29), to baptize in the Spirit (Mt 3:11), to cause His chosen ones to be born again of God (1 Pet 1:3; 2:9). How have you missed this fact? The kingdom of heaven is at hand…still, today (Rom 14:17).

The eternal Son of God, the Messiah of God, has inaugurated His kingdom. Jesus Christ is the sovereign Lord of all the universe. Who has blinded you from seeing the realities of these claims (2 Cor 4:4)? Where is your focus? What is happening in your heart that you miss the good news from holy heaven?

Jesus informed Pontius Pilate that His kingdom was not of this world (Jn 18:36) Why do you question His coming back? Do you wish for the pending, universal judgment with perfect justice (Heb 9:27)? How will you stand on that day of reckoning (Mt 3:7; Lk 3:7)?

What is the program? It is simple. The Gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world. It will be a witness to all the nations. Then, the end of this present evil age shall come (Mt 24:14). The Gospel is to be preached to all creation, by those who are called and sent in the power of the Holy Spirit (Mk 16:15; Lk 4:18; 1 Cor 2:4). God is calling His elect from every nation (Rev 5:9), and they are all coming (Ps 72:9–11; Micah 4:1–2; Acts 2; Acts 15:14–18).

Christ has come from heaven; and His elect bride is coming from the four winds (Mt 24:31). They are filled with His indwelling Spirit (Jn 14:17; Rom 8:9, 11), in the present, and their resurrection, body and soul, will occur on the day of Christ’s coming (Jn 5:28–29; 1 Cor 15). Here is the promise of His coming being fulfilled in your midst. This is only proof of His promised return at the end of the world.

Here is the program. God sends His messengers with His Word to proclaim (Rom 10:15). They preach Christ and Him crucified (1 Cor 1:23; 2:2). His people hear His voice, and they follow Him (Jn 10:3). They herald news, good news of God’s grace to sinners (Mt 1:21; Rom 1:16–17). Why would you object to God having mercy on sinners?

The fact of your unbelief should serve as a warning to you (Jn 10:26). God is graciously sending Word for you, and all men everywhere, to repent of your sins and believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ (Acts 17:30). He is not giving you a chance to do this. He is not giving you a choice to do this. He is commanding your obedience of faith. His chosen ones submit, follow, and obey. Will you persist in your obstinate disregard for His clear command, directed at you?

There is no other way of salvation from sin, the devil, the world, the guilt, and the forthcoming eternal punishment (Acts 4:12). There is no other means for God to gather His beloved people. There is nothing else for you to do but to believe in Him, who justifies the ungodly (Rom 4:5).

God is glorified in the person and work of Jesus Christ. Look to Him, alone, for your salvation. Only His death on the Cross can set you free from the guilt of sin. His precious blood (1 Pet 1:19), shed for forgiveness of sins (Eph 1:7), is the only acceptable payment, by God, for the cancellation of your debt of sin (Col 2:14).

By reading this article, intended to add understanding, written in love for your eternal soul…is this not again another approach of Christ coming to you. Where is the promise of His coming? It is here and now. May today be the day of your salvation! Today, if you hear His voice, turn to Him, follow Him, receive Him, then love Him, serve Him, and glorify His holy Name, now and forever. If you do, then, you too, will know the reality of His coming; but if you do not, then, fear His coming with your whole body and soul.
