The Fallacy of Thinking Sin is Not a Problem
In his rebellion against God, Lucifer, the chief angel, sinned against God. Many angels joined his ranks and so God created hell and the lake of fire for their eternal punishment. In speaking of salvation, we must note that there is no salvation for the devil and his demons.
Sin is lawlessness (1 Jn 3:4), and it is the Law of God that teaches us what God has deemed to be sin. Far from delivering us from sin, God’s Law actually stimulates sinners to sin (Rom 5:20). The Law of God also reveals the holiness of God. God is set apart from sin and sinners.
Adam and Eve were the first people God created and the first sinners. In fact, it was Adam’s sin that has been passed down to every living soul ever conceived, except Jesus Christ, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit in the womb of the virgin Mary.
It was Satan, in the form of a serpent, who deceived Adam and Eve with the lies that they would not die as a result of sin, but rather, they would become like gods (Gen 3:5). God was faithful to His promised Word regarding the consequence to disobedience. Adam and Eve were put out of the garden paradise and estranged from God (a type of spiritual death). Later, they died, bodily, as promised.
The wages of sin is death. Death came to the soul and to the body. Every soul conceived by God and placed within the human body at conception is dead to God. The inherited sin of Adam is assigned to every soul and every soul is thus spiritually dead. In other words, everyone conceived in the womb is immediately faced with a sin/death plight.
Sin ravages the human body throughout one’s vaporous life upon the earth. It is not just the individual’s sin, but the collective sins of humanity that visit people. Think of spreading viruses, bacterial infections, diseases caused by poisoned food and water, not to mention war and famine. Death looms where sin is present. Sin is everywhere in this fallen world of sin.
God is the just Judge of sinners both man and angels. It is appointed once for a man to die and then comes the judgment. So, sin leads to death, and death leads to judgment, and judgment leads to eternal punishment. From his inherited sin comes a sin nature. This means that every inclination of his heart is only evil all the time. Stated another way, the most natural thing for sinful man to do is practice sinning all day, every day.
God is slow to anger and slow to wrath even though His wrath is revealed against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men. There is a day fixed in the future when the Judge of the whole earth will come to judge the living and the dead. The Bible tells us that all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to the Lord Jesus Christ. All people from history and from around the world must stand before His judgment seat upon His great white throne, in order to give account of their deeds done in the flesh.
The dead will be raised from their graves on the last day in order to bear their sentence of the second death, body and soul, in the lake of fire that burns forever. Friend, I warn you that this is your future apart from Jesus Christ, the only Savior of sinners.
Now, consider that Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners. He who knew no sin became sin for us, the people He came to save. God poured out His just wrath upon the unblemished Lamb of God who took away the sin of the world. Jesus laid down His life for His sheep, shedding His precious blood for the remission of sins. He bore our sins in His body on the cross. He died in our place, for our benefit.
As a result, God is calling all men, everywhere to repent of their sin and rebellion against God. By His grace, those who are born again of His Spirit will not only repent, but they will turn in faith to God. They will evidence the Spirit making them alive to God by trusting in Jesus Christ. They will bear witness that Jesus Christ is Lord and Lord of all.
What was required for a forgiven man to have right standing before the Holy God? It was the cruel death of His only begotten Son, with whom He was well-pleased. He is not well-pleased with sinners. The Bible assures us that God hates those who do iniquity (Ps 5:5; 7:11; 11:5). His just judgment and wrath are waiting to be unleashed against unrepentant sinners.
It is imperative, my dear reader, that you go before God’s throne of grace, today, to receive mercy and grace from the righteous Lord. If you refuse to call upon His name, to seek His face and forgiveness then you will die in your trespasses and sins. Apart from Christ you cannot save yourself. God’s Word of promise manifested true for Adam and Eve and for every sinner since then. It will prove true in your case, too…for better or worse.
