Theology of the Cross vs. Theology of Glory

Here is the error of prosperity theology and positive thinking psychology in the church.

The message of the Cross is for God’s people now, while the message of Glory is for God’s people after they die.

The false teachers, today, erase the theology of the Cross from their message (too negative), and they replace it with a message of positivism that includes God’s favor for health and wealth.

Sinful flesh loves the message of materialism, and adherents flock en masse to hear “good news” that God wants them to be rich, which of course, requires the sowing of seed ($$$) into the charismatic leader’s general fund, which comes with the promise of a harvest of returns for the faithful. How’s that working out for you?

Sufferings abound for the person “looking for all that God has for me in the new year.” The tragedy is captured in Ezekiel 34, but that will never be preached by these charlatans.

The truth, Christian, is that in the world you are going to have trouble after trouble until you die (Jn 16:33).

Fear not, His grace is sufficient for you (2 Cor 12:9), and His Spirit will guide you through diverse tribulations (Jn 14:26; 16:13). Paul affirmed this to the church at Rome, “For I consider that the sufferings at this present time are not to be compared to the glory that is to be revealed to us (Rom 8:18).” He is referring to the glory that follows death.

Unless you remain fooled by these hucksters, you know this is true. Suffer well, O saints of God, for your life is but a vapor, and the hope of glory is yours now and realized forever more in eternity.
